GE Genius 70

Not sure if anyone would classify this as an interesting calculator, but it is sort of cute.

Purchased January 2008 from eBay. Not much info on it - was imported by Australian GE, made in Japan. Has mysterious "512" stamped on back label, looks like a serial number but the real one is on the inside (A3001117). Date code is stamped inside case as 50927 - so it was made on the 27th of September 1975.

In full working order - operates from 2 AA cells or a 3v DC plug. Case is pretty scuffed, you could say it has rustic charm. I accidentally broke off one of the plastic retaining tabs while disassebling it (22 year old plastic doesn't hold up too well). I'll try cleaning it up one day.

As you can see from the photos this calculator has a vacuum flourescent display. Definitely the second classiest display after nixies (don't think I can quite afford one with those...). If you have any calculator with a VFD - no matter how basic - I want it! Email me!"

This calculator is actually a rebranded version of the Omron 86M (see this excellent site).

Pictures coming!
